Dieter Ropke has suggested that we consider engaging a speaker on the topic of land restoration in the Sudbury region, where acidic emissions from smelters had devastated an extensive natural area. If you know of someone who could present an interesting and informative program on that topic, possibly at an annual meeting, please contact program chair John Lehman at jlehman@lssu.edu or (906) 635-5095.

Valerie Walker received a message from Gregg Bruff (the speaker at our 2007 Annual Meeting) offering to speak at a future meeting of the Sault Naturalists. According to Gregg, the program is basically an overview of how artists have helped create National Parks and an introduction to the Group of Seven - A.Y. Jackson (who assisted with Parks Canada projects), Arthur Lismer, Tom Thompson, Lawren Harris, etc.  We have programs scheduled through September, 2008 but Gregg has indicated a willingness to speak to us in case of a cancellation, or possibly at some later date.

Because of a program cancellation, we have engaged Gregg as our speaker for Nov. 11. Click on Future Programs for information about his presentation.

Don Hall has suggested that we invite David Wells from Naturally Superior Adventure to speak. He would give a slide show about an ecotour of eastern Lake Superior or something about the trap rock issue in Michipicoten Bay.

David has agreed to speak at our October 14 meeting. Click on Future Programs for information about his presentation.
