Bird and Other Observations
Bird observation plays an important part in our activities. Current observations are reported at meetings and on this web site and a compilation of members’ observations is maintained. There are early morning walks and an annual outing during the hawk, loon and owl migration. The Christmas Bird count is the highlight of the holiday season and is followed by a potluck supper at which participants warm up and share observations. The club has built several bird viewing platforms, compiled a checklist of birds in the region, and assisted in the compilation of individual breeding bird atlases for both Ontario and Michigan. Other nature related observations are also welcome, such as sightings of rare plants and mushrooms or of any natural object or phenomenon that is out of the ordinary. Click on Report Other Sightings to submit other sightings of interest.
